Annual change of CMRPI in NCR picks up in December 2019
The annual growth rate of CMRPI in the National Capital Region (NCR) went up by 0.7 percent in December 2019. Its annual increment in November 2019 was registered at 0.5 percent and in December 2018, 2.4 percent. (Table A and Table 2)
The annual change of plumbing materials index rose by 0.2 percent during the month from a 0.1 percent annual decline in November 2019. Moreover, higher annual increases were recorded in the indices of the following commodity groups:
- Painting materials and related compounds, 1.3 percent;
- Tinsmithry materials, 0.7 percent; and
- Miscellaneous construction materials, 0.3 percent.
Meanwhile, a slower annual mark-up of 0.4 percent was noted in electrical materials index. The indices of carpentry materials and masonry materials retained their previous month’s annual growth rates of 1.0 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.
The average annual rate of increase of CMRPI for all items decelerated to 1.4 percent in 2019, from 2.9 percent in 2018. Higher average annual growth rates in 2019 were noted in the indices of masonry materials at 1.5 percent; and painting materials and related compounds, 1.1 percent. Other commodity groups exhibited lower average annual increments during the year. (Table 2)
