CMWPI in NCR decelerated in February 2022

The annual increase of CMWPI in NCR eased to 5.2 percent in February 2022, from 5.3 percent in January 2022. Its annual growth rate in February 2021 was posted at 2.0 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The index of tileworks continued to decrease as its annual rate dropped by -1.5 percent during the month. Moreover, annual upticks were slower in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Concrete products and cement; 3.3 percent;
b. Hardware, 3.2 percent;
c. Glass and glass products, 1.4 percent; and
d. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.2 percent.

On the other hand, annual increments were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:

a. Sand and gravel, 2.2 percent;
b. Plywood, 4.1 percent;
c. Reinforcing and structural steel, 7.2 percent
d. Electrical works, 9.2 percent;
e. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 6.6 percent;
f. Painting works, 4.5 percent;
g. PVC pipes, 5.3 percent; and
h. Fuels and lubricants, 31.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the indices of the rest of the commodity groups had retained their previous month’s positive annual growth rates or had zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
