  • Month-on-Month

The month-on-month growth rate of the General Retail Price Index (GRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) further went up to 0.9 percent in November from 0.6 percent in October. The 2.3 percent growth in the heavily weighted food index from 1.0 percent primarily brought about the uptrend. Higher price increases were also correspondingly noted in the indexes of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials and miscellaneous manufactured articles at 2.4 percent and 0.2 percent from 2.3 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. On the other hand, price hike in machinery and transport equipment was slower at 0.2 percent from 0.5 percent. Prices of crude materials, inedible except fuels and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials generally remained stable as they recorded zero growth during the month. Meanwhile, the same rate of 0.1 percent was still observed in the price gains of beverages and tobacco and chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats indexes.

Prices of chicken, fish, rice, corn, vegetables, sugar, cooking oil, gasoline, LPG, diesel fuel, kerosene, engine oil and lubricating oil picked up during the month. Upward price adjustments in selected footwear were also recorded.
