    The month-on-month growth rate of the General Retail Price Index (GRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) went up to 0.6 percent in October from 0.2 percent in September. Price add-ons in the heavily weighted food index was higher at 1.0 percent in October from 0.3 percent in September; mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials, 2.3 percent from -1.0 percent; chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 0.1 percent from zero growth; and machinery and transport equipment, 0.5 percent from 0.1 percent On the other hand, monthly price uptick in beverages and tobacco and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials index were correspondingly slower at 0.1 percent and 0.2 percent from their respective previous monthÒ³ rates of 0.3 percent and 0.4 percent. Prices of crude materials, inedible except fuels generally remained stable as it recorded a zero growth during the month. Meanwhile, the same rate of 0.1 percent was still observed in the price gain of miscellaneous manufactured articles index.

    Price hikes were noted in gasoline, LPG, diesel fuel, kerosene, engine oil and lubricating oil. Price additions in selected medicines and selected wiring devices also contributed to the uptrend. 
     

  • Year-on-Year

    The annual growth of the GRPI in NCR eased to 1.6 percent in October from 2.4 percent in September. The annual price change in the heavily weighted food index decelerated to 0.7 percent in October from 3.0 percent in September; beverages and tobacco, 1.4 percent from 1.5 percent; chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 1.2 percent from 1.5 percent; machinery and transport equipment, 2.4 percent from 3.6 percent; and miscellaneous manufactured articles, 1.5 percent from 1.7 percent. However, higher price gains was registered in the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials at 8.0 percent from 4.9 percent and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials at 1.8 percent from 1.6 percent. Annual inflation for crude materials, inedible except fuels remained at 1.8 percent.
