GRPI in NCR continued to move upward in April 2021

The annual change of GRPI in NCR picked up further to 2.0 percent in April 2021, from 1.8 percent in the previous month. Its annual rate in April 2020 was registered at 0.7 percent. (Tables A and 2)

The index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials accelerated further by 20.2 percent in April 2021, from 9.0 percent in March 2021.

In addition, annual increases were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:

a. Chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 0.9 percent from 0.8 percent;
b. Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.0 percent from 0.9 percent; and
c. Miscellaneous manufactured articles, 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent.

On the other hand, slower annual increments were observed in the indices of food, and crude materials, inedible except fuels, both at 1.9 percent; and beverages and tobacco, 6.4 percent. The index of machinery and transport equipment retained its previous month’s annual rate of 0.3 percent during the month. (Table 2)
