GRPI in NCR decelerates in August 2020

The annual rate of GRPI in NCR eased to 1.4 percent in August 2020. In the previous month, its annual change was registered at 1.5 percent and in August 2019 at 0.8 percent. (Tables A and 2)

A downward movement was still observed in the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials as its annual rate dropped by 5.9 percent in August 2020. In addition, lower annual increments were posted in the indices of beverages and tobacco at 5.9 percent, and miscellaneous manufactured articles at 0.7 percent.

On the other hand, annual increases were higher in the indices of chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats at 0.3 percent, and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials at 1.5 percent during the month.

The indices of food and crude materials, inedible except fuels retained their corresponding previous month's annual rates of 2.7 percent and 1.8 percent, while the index of machinery and transport equipment had a zero annual growth during the period. (Table 2)
