GRPI in NCR picked up in August 2021

The year-on-year change of GRPI in NCR went up by 2.0 percent in August 2021. This was higher than its annual rate in July 2021 at 1.8 percent and in August 2020 at 1.4 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Annual increments during the month were higher in the indices of food at 2.1 percent; beverages and tobacco, 7.0 percent; and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.1 percent.

Meanwhile, annual changes decelerated in the indices of crude materials, inedible except fuels at 1.4 percent; and mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials, 12.7 percent.

The indices of other commodity groups, i.e., chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats; machinery and transport equipment; and miscellaneous manufactured articles retained their previous month’s annual growth rates. (Table 2)
