GRPI in NCR picks up in January 2021

The annual change of GRPI in NCR went up by 1.3 percent in January 2021, from 1.1 percent in the previous month. Its annual rate in January 2020 was recorded at 1.7 percent. (Table A and Table 2)

The indices of the following commodity groups exhibited higher annual increments during the month, relative to their annual growth rates in the previous month:

  • Food, 2.5 percent;

  • Beverages and tobacco, 6.5 percent;

  • Crude materials, inedible except fuels, 2.2 percent;

  • Chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 0.2 percent; and

  • Manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials, 1.2 percent.

On the other hand, the index of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials continued to move downward as its annual rate dropped by -6.0 percent in January 2021. The indices of machinery and transport equipment, and miscellaneous manufactured articles retained their previous month’s annual rates of zero percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. (Table 2)
