GRPI in NCR continues to move downward in January 2022

The annual growth of GRPI in NCR decreased further to 1.9 percent in January 2022, from 2.1 percent in the previous month. Its annual rate in January 2021 was recorded at 1.3 percent. (Tables A and 2)

Slower annual increases were observed in the indices of food at 1.8 percent; and crude materials, inedible except fuels at 0.1 percent.

Meanwhile, annual increments were faster in the indices of the following commodity groups compared to their respective previous month’s rates:

a. Beverages and tobacco, 3.4 percent;
b. Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials,18.0 percent; and
c. Machinery and transport equipment, 0.6 percent.

The rest of the commodity groups retained their December 2021 annual growth rates. (Table 2)
