The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) granted clearance to the conduct of the Barangay Agriculture Profiling Survey (BAPS) in Caraga on 03 May 2018. The survey is a joint project of the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Caraga and the Caraga State University (CSU).
The survey aims to generate data from all barangays in Caraga that will provide policymakers and other users with a comprehensive agriculture profile consisting of the following information:
- basic barangay characteristics
- agricultural crops
- irrigation
- livestock and poultry
- fisheries
- agricultural technology
- marketing
- farm machineries and implements
- inventory of government and privately owned government facilities, distance to the nearest facility and means of transportation
- extent of land conversion
- associations providing support to farmers
- agricultural/fishery development programs/projects implemented in the barangay
- sources of agriculture-related information
- women’s participation in agriculture/fishery related activities
The BAPS will utilize a total budget of Php 4.7 million for maintenance and other operating expenses such as travelling expenses, communications, supplies, training and seminar, representation, printing expense and other expenses.
The results of the survey are expected to be released in December 2018.
The survey was reviewed and cleared for conduct under the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS), a mechanism being implemented by the PSA by virtue of Rule 28 of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 to:
- ensure sound design for data collection;
- minimize the burden placed upon respondents;
- effect economy in statistical data collection;
- eliminate unnecessary duplication of statistical data collection efforts; and
- achieve better coordination of government statistical activities.
