Generally, the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR continued to remain stable as it still registered a zero growth rate in December. While no movement was still posted in the prices of carpentry materials, declines were seen in the prices of electrical materials (-0.1% from 0.5%), painting materials and related compounds (-0.4% from 0.3%) and miscellaneous construction materials (-0.3% from zero growth). However, the rest of the commodity groups recorded higher monthly positive growth rates.
Downward price adjustments were generally noticed in selected electrical materials, paints and plain round steel bars.

Year-on-Year
The year-on-year inflation rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials further slowed down to 2.7 percent in December from 3.5 percent in November. Slower annual rates were registered in the following commodity groups: carpentry materials (0.9% from 1.0%), electrical materials (2.9% from 4.4%), masonry materials (3.1% from 3.7%), painting materials and related compounds (2.4% from 2.5%) and miscellaneous construction materials (8.4% from 11.8%). On the other hand, annual growth rate was higher in the index of plumbing materials at 1.6 percent from 1.4 percent while tinsmithry materials had zero growth from 0.1 percent in November.
