The retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR generally remained stable as its overall index posted zero growth in November from 0.4 percent in October. Compared to last month, prices of carpentry materials and miscellaneous construction materials recorded zero growth rates from their respective rates of 0.8 percent and 0.6 percent while the group's index of plumbing materials still posted a zero growth rate. Movements in the prices of masonry materials and tinsmithry materials decelerated to -0.1 percent from zero growth and 0.3 percent respectively. On the other hand, prices of electrical materials and painting materials and related compounds correspondingly picked up to 0.5 percent and 0.3 percent from 0.3 percent and -0.4 percent, respectively.
Price reductions were noted in selected construction materials like lumber, nails, plumbing materials, white cement, gravel, hollow blocks, corrugated GI sheet, washer and steel bars.

Year-on-Year
The year-on-year inflation rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials slowed down to 3.5 percent in November from 3.6 percent in October. Slower annual price gains were observed in the following commodity groups: electrical materials (4.4 % from 4.8 %), masonry materials (3.7 % from 3.8 %), plumbing materials (1.4 % from 1.5 %), tinsmithry materials (0.1 % from 0.9 %) and miscellaneous construction materials (11.8 % from 12.2 %). The index of painting materials and related compounds still moved at its last month's rate of 2.5 percent.
