The month-on-month growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR went down to -1.1 percent in August from 1.1 percent in July. Prices of painting materials and related compounds and miscellaneous construction materials correspondingly dropped by -0.1 percent and -6.2 percent in August from their respective last monthÒ³ rates of 0.7 percent and 2.4 percent. Moreover, price increases of electrical materials and plumbing materials slowed down to 0.2 percent from 1.3 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively and tinsmithry materials, 0.7 percent from 0.8 percent. The rest of the commodity groups registered higher price increments.
Downward adjustments in the prices of paints, tinting color, kalsomine powder, paint putty and round steel bars were noted this month.

The annual growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR decelerated to 17.3 percent in August from 18.4 percent in July. Annual growth rates in painting materials and related compounds index and miscellaneous construction materials index were correspondingly slower at 5.1 percent and 65.8 percent from 5.5 percent and 75.9 percent, respectively. Annual add-ons in the plumbing materials index remained at 3.6 percent while the rest of the commodity groups posted higher annual growth rates.
