Month-on-Month
On a monthly basis, the Retail Price Index of Selected Construction Materials in NCR dropped to -0.6 percent in July from 0.2 percent in June. This can be attributed to the decreases in the indexes of carpentry materials and masonry materials at -1.4 percent and zero growth from their last month's rates of 0.8 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively. The miscellaneous construction materials and the painting materials and related compounds indices also continued to post a negative rate of -0.3 percent from their respective previous month's rates of -0.6 percent and -0.3 percent. The rest of the commodity groups have higher monthly growth rates.
Downward price adjustments were generally noted in lumber, plywood, nails and paints. A decrease in the price of steel bars also contributed to the downtrend.
