  The retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.4 percent in January from 0.3 percent in December. A higher monthly price hike was noted in masonry materials index at 0.1 percent in January from zero growth in December; painting materials and related compounds, 0.7 percent from zero growth; tinsmithry materials, 0.2 percent from -0.1 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 1.8 percent from 0.1 percent. Prices of carpentry materials generally remained stable as the group's index recorded a zero growth during the month. On the other hand, monthly price uptick in electrical and plumbing materials indexes correspondingly slowed down to 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent from their previous month's rates of 0.8 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.

  Price add-ons were posted in cement, selected paints, sand paper and steel bars.
  

• Year-on-Year

  The annual growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR eased to 3.3 percent in January from 3.4 percent in December. The carpentry and masonry materials indexes decelerated to 3.5 percent and 0.9 percent in January from 4.2 percent and 1.2 percent in December. The same rate of 2.0 percent was observed in painting materials and related compounds index. The rest of the commodity groups have higher annual growth rates.
