The retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.3 percent in December from zero growth in November. A higher monthly price increment was noted in electrical materials index at 0.8 percent in December from -0.1 percent in November; plumbing materials, 0.7 percent from 0.6 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 0.1 percent from -2.6 percent. Price reductions were however, observed in carpentry materials and tinsmithry materials indexes at -0.1 percent from 1.3 percent and zero growth. Prices of masonry materials and painting materials and related compounds remained stable as the group's indexes posted a zero growth during the month.
Upward price adjustments were noted in selected electrical wires and wiring devices, plumbing materials and steel bars.

The annual growth rate in the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR increased to 3.4 percent in December from 3.1 percent in November. The annual price hike in carpentry materials index was higher at 4.2 percent in December from 3.8 percent in November; electrical materials, 4.1 percent from 3.5 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 2.0 percent from 1.9 percent; plumbing materials, 3.7 percent from 3.0 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 3.5 percent from 3.3 percent. Meanwhile, the annual price gains in masonry and tinsmithry materials indexes correspondingly slowed down to 1.2 percent and 2.4 percent from their respective last month's rates of 1.4 percent and 2.9 percent.
