  The retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR generally remained stable as it recorded a zero growth in November from 0.8 percent in October. This was due to the offsetting rates recorded in the different group's indices. Price declines were registered in electrical materials index at -0.1 percent in November from 1.6 percent in October; masonry materials, -0.2 percent from -0.1 percent; painting materials and related compounds, -0.5 percent from 0.5 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, -2.6 percent from 0.1 percent. Slower monthly price gain was seen in plumbing materials index at 0.6 percent from 1.5 percent while that for carpentry materials index had a higher rate at 1.3 percent from 0.4 percent. Tinsmithry materials posted a zero growth during the month.

  Price reductions noted in selected electrical wires and wiring devices, cement, paints and related compounds, sand paper and steel bars were offsetted by the price increases in carpentry materials.
  

• Year-on-Year

  On an annual basis, the growth rate of the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR eased to 3.1 percent in November from 3.2 percent in October. Annual price increments in the following commodity groups decelerated during the month: electrical materials, 3.5 percent from 4.0 percent; masonry materials, 1.4 percent from 1.6 percent; painting materials and related compounds, 1.9 percent from 2.8 percent; tinsmithry materials, 2.9 percent from 6.7 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 3.3 percent from 4.0 percent. Meanwhile, annual price hike in carpentry materials index was higher at 3.8 percent from 1.5 percent.
