On a monthly basis, the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR went up to 0.8 percent in October from 0.5 percent in September. A higher monthly price increment was noted in electrical materials index at 1.6 percent in October from 0.3 percent in September; painting materials and related compounds, 0.5 percent from 0.2 percent; and plumbing materials, 1.5 percent from 0.5 percent. Slowdowns in price increases were however observed in carpentry materials index at 0.4 percent from 0.6 percent; tinsmithry materials, 0.5 percent from 2.5 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials, 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent. The same September rate of -0.1 percent was posted in the index of masonry materials.
Upward price adjustments were noted in selected wires and wiring devices, painting compounds, sand paper and sanitary fixtures.

The annual growth in the retail prices of selected construction materials in NCR rose to 3.2 percent in October from 2.6 percent in September. The annual price hike in carpentry materials index was higher at 1.5 percent in October from 0.7 percent in September; electrical materials and miscellaneous construction materials at 4.0 percent from 3.3 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively; painting materials and related compounds, 2.8 percent from 2.5 percent; plumbing materials, 2.5 percent from 0.7 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 6.7 percent from 6.4 percent. Meanwhile, the annual price gain in masonry materials index slowed down to 1.6 percent from 1.7 percent.
