The Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) dropped by 0.1 percent in April. It had 0.1 percent growth last month and in April 2014, 1.0 percent. Annual declines were correspondingly noted in the indices of electrical materials and miscellaneous construction materials at -2.6 percent and -5.1 percent. Moreover, the annual increase in carpentry materials index slowed down to 2.8 percent; masonry materials index, 0.3 percent; and tinsmithry materials index, 1.5 percent. On the other hand, a higher annual uptick was noted in painting materials and related compounds index at 2.4 percent. No movement was seen in plumbing materials index as it posted a zero growth during the month.

Month-on-Month
On a monthly basis, the CMRPI in NCR continued to decline as it still registered a negative rate of -0.1 percent in April. Last month, it’s movement was posted at -0.6 percent.
Downward price adjustments were observed in the following commodity groups: masonry materials index, -0.9 percent; tinsmithry materials index, -0.2 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials index, -0.5 percent. Moreover, the increment in the index of carpentry materials eased to 0.1 percent. On the contrary, the indices of electrical materials and plumbing materials recorded higher monthly gains at 0.2 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. The growth in the index for painting materials and related compounds remained at 0.1 percent.
Prices of cement, gravel, selected tinsmithry materials, steel bars and plywood were on the downtrend. Meanwhile, selected wiring devices and plumbing fixtures were priced higher during the month.
