The annual hike in the Construction Materials Retail Price Index (CMRPI) in the National Capital Region (NCR) was pegged at 1.1 percent in June. This was the same rate posted in May. The annual growth in June 2013 was 2.1 percent. A higher annual gain was noted in painting materials and related compounds index at 1.8 percent in June. Meanwhile, the annual increments in the indices of carpentry materials eased to 1.1 percent; electrical materials, 1.4 percent; and tinsmithry materials, 2.6 percent. The plumbing and miscellaneous construction materials indices still registered annual decreases of 1.0 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively. The masonry materials index retained its last month’s rate of 2.3 percent.

The monthly uptick in the CMRPI in NCR slowed to 0.1 percent in June. Last month, it grew by 0.3 percent. The index for electrical materials declined by 0.1 percent; masonry materials index, -0.3 percent; and plumbing materials index, -0.4 percent. Moreover, a slower monthly growth was noticed in painting materials and related compounds index at 0.2 percent; tinsmithry materials index, 0.4 percent; and miscellaneous construction materials index, 0.5 percent. The carpentry materials index moved at its last month’s rate of 0.1 percent.
Price add-ons were observed in plywood, nails, selected paints, corrugated GI sheets and steel bars. Downward price adjustments were however, seen in wiring devices, sand and plumbing materials.
