The month-on-month growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR decreased to -0.1 percent in June from 0.2 percent in May. Declines were noted in carpentry and electrical materials indexes at -2.5 percent and -0.3 percent, respectively from their corresponding last month's rates of 0.8 percent and 0.1 percent. In addition, increment in painting materials and related compounds index was slower at 0.4 percent from 0.8 percent and miscellaneous construction materials, 0.1 percent from 0.2 percent. The rest of the commodity groups have higher monthly growth rates.
Price reductions were noted in plywood, nails and selected wiring devices. On the other hand, prices of cement, gravel, paints, GI corrugated sheet and steel bars were on the uptrend.

The annual growth rate of the retail price index of selected construction materials in NCR decelerated to 4.2 percent in June from 4.5 percent in May. Negative annual rate was still posted in masonry materials index at -0.8 percent and miscellaneous construction materials, -0.4 percent. Moreover, annual hike in carpentry materials index slowed down to 4.4 percent in June from 7.4 percent in May; electrical materials, 4.7 percent from 5.3 percent; and plumbing materials, 4.9 percent from 5.1 percent. On the other hand, annual gain was higher in painting materials and related compounds index at 5.0 percent from 4.5 percent and tinsmithry materials, 2.7 percent from 2.6 percent.
