(NCR and AONCR - July 2002)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 151.4 and 155.9 in July from their respective June levels of 150.7 and 155.5.

Seasonal factors such as the weather disturbances that were experienced in July did not push up prices of FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend.

On a monthly basis, prices of seasonally adjusted FBT items in NCR and AONCR increased respectively to 0.5 percent and 0.3 percent in July from their corresponding June rates of 0.2 percent and 0.1 percent.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT Items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of Non-FBT items in NCR decreased to 182.8 in July from 183.5 in June while that for AONCR picked up to 180.6 from 180.1 last month. Seasonal factors in the two areas pushed up prices of non-FBT items during the month.

The month-on-month inflation of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR was still negative at 0.4 percent in July from -1.2 percent in June. On the other hand, prices of non-FBT items for AONCR slightly moved up to 0.3 percent in July from 0.2 percent in June.
