A. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR was posted at 163.0 in November and in AONCR, at 179.6.

Seasonal factors like the on-going harvest season of palay observed in selected regions lowered prices of rice in AONCR. Thus, prices of FBT items in the area were generally pushed down by this seasonal factor relative to the expected trend. Meanwhile this seasonal have no effect in the overall prices of FBT items in NCR.

Measured a month ago, movement in the prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for FBT items in NCR dropped to -0.6 percent. In AONCR, it slowed down to 0.3 percent from 1.0 percent.

B. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 179.1 and 174.7 in November from their last month’s respective levels of 178.3 and 174.2.

The continued production of selected goods in preparation for the coming holiday season was observed during the month. This seasonal factor pulled down prices of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR relative to the expected trend.

The monthly rate of change of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR were higher at 0.4 percent and 0.3 percent in November from their previous month’s rates of 0.3 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.
