Annual rate of CMRPI in NCR remained steady at 1.4 percent in January 2024

The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR in January 2024 remained at its previous month’s year-on-year growth rate of 1.4 percent. In January 2023, the annual increment of CMRPI was recorded at 5.5 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

Relative to their December 2023 annual rates, higher annual increases were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month: 

a. Electrical materials, 0.9 percent from 0.8 percent;
b. Masonry materials, 0.9 percent from 0.7 percent;
c. Painting materials and related compounds, 2.9 percent from 2.6 percent; and
d. Tinsmithry materials, 3.1 percent from 2.9 percent.

On the contrary, slower annual increases were noted in the indices of carpentry materials at 0.4 percent in January 2024 from 0.7 percent in the previous month, and plumbing materials at 0.5 percent during the month from 0.7 percent in December 2023.

Meanwhile, the index of miscellaneous construction materials retained its previous month’s annual drop of 0.3 percent. (Table 2)
