CMWPI in NCR slowly picked up in July 2022
The annual increase of CMWPI in NCR eased to 8.7 percent in July 2022, from 8.9 percent in June 2022. Its annual growth rate in July 2021 was posted at 2.3 percent. (Tables A and 2)
The lower annual growth in CMWPI was primarily brought about by the downtrend in reinforcing and structural steel at 14.9 percent in July 2022. In addition, annual upticks were slower in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:
a. Plywood, 4.9 percent;
b. G.I. sheet, 13.0 percent;
c. Electrical works, 8.4 percent;
d. PVC pipes, 9.8 percent; and
e. Fuels and lubricants, 41.3 percent
Meanwhile, annual increments were higher in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Sand and gravel, 5.1 percent;
b. Concrete products and cement, 5.7 percent;
c. Hardware, 5.8 percent;
d. Lumber, 4.8 percent;
e. Tileworks, 1.2 percent;
f. Doors, jambs, and steel casement, 2.5 percent;
g. Plumbing fixtures and accessories/waterworks, 7.9 percent; and
h. Painting works, 7.0 percent.
The index for glass and glass products remained at its previous month’s annual growth rate of 1.6 percent, while the indices of asphalt, and machinery and equipment rental retained their zero percent annual growth during the month. (Table 2)
