  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

    The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR and AONCR was lower at 148.3 in July from 148.4 in June while in AONCR was higher at 160.5 from 157.9.

    The inclement weather conditions experienced during the month due to typhoons raised prices of selected fruits and vegetables in the wet markets. This seasonal factor pushed up the general movements of prices of FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend.

    Prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly increased at slower rates of 1.4 percent and 1.6 percent in July compares to their respective June rates of 1.5 percent and 2.9 percent.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR and AONCR recorded at 163.2 and 158.4 in July were higher than their respective June levels of 162.0 and 156.3. The lean month of July increased prices of non-FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend.

Add-ons in the prices of seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR picked up to 0.7 percent in July, the same rate posted in June. On the other hand, prices of non-FBT items in AONCR were higher at 1.3 percent from 1.2 percent.
