Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT) and Non-FBT Items
(NCR and AONCR - August 2010)

  1. CPI of Food, Beverages and Tobacco (FBT): National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of FBT items in NCR and AONCR correspondingly went up to 155.3and 169.3 in August from their respective July levels of 154.7 and 168.5.

Seasonal factors such as the unfavorable weather conditions that were experienced in August pushed up the general movement of prices of FBT items in AONCR relative to the expected trend. However, this seasonal factor did not pull up prices of FBT items in NCR.

The month-on-month inflation of seasonally adjusted CPI for AONCR correspondingly increased by 0.4 percent and 0.5 percent in August from zero growth and -0.1 percent, respectively.

  2. CPI of Non-FBT items: National Capital Region (NCR) and Areas Outside the National Capital Region (AONCR)

The seasonally adjusted CPI of non-FBT items in NCR picked up to 168.4 in August from 167.4 in July while that for AONCR went down to 164.3 from 164.4. The lean month of August raised prices of non-FBT items in the two areas relative to the expected trend.

Compared with last month, prices of the seasonally adjusted CPI for non-FBT items in NCR rose to 0.6 percent in August from -0.1 percent in July while for AONCR it continued to decrease at -0.1 percent from -0.2 percent.
