GRPI in NCR continues to accelerate in June 2022
The annual increment of GRPI in NCR increased further to 4.7 percent in June 2022, from 4.1 percent in May 2022. This is the highest recorded annual growth rate since April 2011. In June 2021, the annual growth of the index stood at 2.0 percent. (Tables A and 2)
Relative to their May 2022 annual growth rates, all commodity groups registered higher annual change in June 2022. Among the commodity groups, higher annual increases in the indices for food at 5.4 percent; mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials at 36.6 percent; and manufactured goods classified chiefly by materials at 3.2 percent contributed primarily to the uptrend in the annual growth rate of the GRPI.
Also contributing to the acceleration of the GRPI in June 2022 were the higher annual increases in the indices of the following commodity groups:
a. Beverages and tobacco, 5.2 percent;
b. Crude materials, inedible except fuels, 2.1 percent;
c. Chemicals, including animal and vegetable oils and fats, 2.5 percent;
d. Machinery and transport equipment, 1.0 percent; and
e. Miscellaneous manufactured articles, 1.0 percent. (Table 2)
