PSDP 2023-2029

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), as mandated under Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 or the “Philippine Statistical Act of 2013,” prepares, in consultation with the PSA Board, a Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP). The PSA spearheads the formulation of comprehensive statistical programs for the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) that are aligned with the country’s national development plan and will promote the progress of an efficient statistical system to ensure reliability, relevance, quality, and accessibility of information generated. The PSDP outlines the key statistical programs in the medium term. It embodies the statistical strategies towards strengthening and improving the operations in the PSS and in enhancing the country’s statistics.

The chapters of PSDP 2023-2029 were prepared by the various statistical committees and sectoral working groups under the overall guidance of the interagency PSDP 2023-2029 Steering Committee which was created by virtue of PSA Board Resolution No. 1, series of 2023, with technical and secretariat support from the PSA.

PSDP 2023-2029 presents the vision, goals, strategies and priorities of the PSS, key developments in the PSS from 2018-2023, and key issues and concerns. It is composed of 29 chapters, each having four sections, namely:

a. Introduction, which provides an explanation of the sector’s scope and coverage. It also gives a brief overview of the chapter, specifically highlighting the key development concerns/programs in the sector as aligned with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, Administration’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among others.

b. Where we are now, which provides a brief description of the current situation and/or state of statistical development in the sector, specifically citing the milestones and major achievements for the period 2018-2023.

c. Next Steps, which itemizes the major statistical development programs and specific statistical activities of the sector including new developments/emerging activities.

d. After seven years, which is a brief discussion on the expected outcome of the sector after the program period when the identified SDPs will have been implemented.
