16 to 18 May 2023 – SEQUOIA HOTEL MANILA BAY. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted the Consultative Forum for the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) 2023-2029 to solicit the views/inputs of all stakeholders on the identified statistical development programs (SDPs). The forum was attended by 356 participants from member agencies of different Technical Committees (TCs), Interagency Committees (IACs), Technical Working Groups (TWGs), Sectoral Working Groups (SWGs), PSDP Steering Committee, development partners, partners from the academe, media, and private sector, and other stakeholders from various sectors.

PSA Undersecretary Dennis S. Mapa, in his welcome remarks, underscored the importance of PSDP as a statistical blueprint in ensuring the generation of quality statistics needed for evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation by various stakeholders.

The IAC Chairs presented the major SDPs for the Chapters, including the issues and/or indicators being addressed, lead agency/ies responsible, and target year of implementation and the corresponding indicative budget. The Forum clarified and/or resolved some statistical issues such as the need for statistical capacity development as there are various most-in-demand statistical training courses being offered by the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI), while some key issues such as generation of statistics related to security of tenure and establishment of a unique identifier for ages 0-4 were flagged for discussion by relevant bodies.

Mr. John Frederick De Guia moderated the Open Forum on Day 1 – PSS-Wide and Multi-Domain Statistics Cluster and Day 2 – Demographic and Social Statistics Cluster, and Mr. Romeo S. Recide served as moderator for Day 3 – Economic Statistics Cluster.

The three-day activity ended with a Closing Remarks from PSA Officer-in-Charge Deputy National Statistician Minerva Eloisa P. Esquivias who thanked all the participants for the success of the PSDP 2023-2029 consultative forum. She expressed hope that with continued partnership and collaborative efforts among all PSS stakeholders, the statistical programs will improve the quality of statistics in our country that will help measure the country’s progress vis-à-vis the targets set forth in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), and ultimately lead to the achievement of the aspirations of the Filipino people as reflected in AmBisyon 2040.
