Annual rate of CMRPI in NCR increased in September 2024

The annual rate of CMRPI in NCR moved up to 1.2 percent in September 2024 from 1.1 percent in August 2024. In September 2023, its year-on-year growth rate was recorded at 1.1 percent. (Figure 1, and Tables A, 2, and 4)

The primary contributor to the uptrend of CMRPI in NCR was the higher annual increase observed in the index of plumbing materials at 0.8 percent in September 2024 from 0.2 percent in the previous month.

In addition, higher annual increments were noted in the indices of the following commodity groups during the month:

a. Carpentry materials, 0.7 percent from 0.6 percent;
b. Painting materials and related compounds, 2.1 percent from 1.9 percent; and
c. Miscellaneous construction materials, 1.5 percent from 1.3 percent.

On the other hand, slower annual increases were posted in the indices of electrical materials at 1.7 percent in September 2024 from 1.8 percent in the previous month, and tinsmithry materials at 1.5 percent during the month from 1.7 percent in August 2024.

Meanwhile, the index of masonry materials retained its previous month’s annual drop of 0.1 percent. (Table 2)
